Sutra Study Intensive
The yamas and niyamas are a flashlight, shining light on the places in our lives where we are out of harmony or right relationship, teaching us how to have healthy relationships with others and ourselves. In this in-depth, 10-week program we will dive into the ten essential teachings of personal and interpersonal relationships as a community, in an exploration towards finding greater connection and harmony. The daily, mindful practice of these ethical guidelines makes us more skilled at living with ourselves and others.
Create greater authenticity: Be real rather than nice
Turn comparison into gratitude
Witness your greed become generosity
Cultivate kindness and compassion to the world, others, and yourself
The format will be a live, online space where we will meet with a group of other curious and thoughtful human beings for one 2-hour class a week using The Yamas and Niyamas by Deborah Adele as our study guide. I will offer presentations for each principle and give (optional) homework, so you can practice at home.
Deborah Adele says, “For me, the yamas and niyamas are about laying the ground rules for our journey towards union, harmony, and wholeness. They are about living in right relationship with others, the earth, and ourselves. They are the foundational guide to our practice both on and off the mat”
